Final numbers for the November playwriting challenge

Hi again all

Just checking in one last time to put a bow on the results of the November writing challenge.

28 writers made it all the way to the end, writing something every single day of the month.

But nearly every one of the original 47 who signed up wrote something.  Only four writers didn’t turn anything in to me - but even they might have been writing, I just never got a chance to see any of the results.  I know of at least one writer here in the Twin Cities who didn’t make the deadline to sign up, but she followed the daily prompts and did some writing anyway, which was good to hear.

Collectively, you all turned in 1,021 script bits in the month of November, totaling 4,090 pages.

That’s the equivalent of over 34 full-length two act plays, or 68 one-act plays, or 409 ten minute plays.

Phew.

Well done, everybody!

And you now have all those pages to play with over the course of the coming year until next November.  Hopefully there’s at least one idea that intrigues you and you find worthwhile to continue exploring in the coming months.

And if you didn’t click with the breakneck pace of writing and turning in something every day, well, that just means you’ve got 30 writing prompts to play around with at your leisure.  Instead of one a day, if you played around with one a week, that gets you writing for over half the new year.  Make it one a month and you’ve got enough to keep you occupied for over two years.  No deadlines now other than the ones you set for yourself.

For those of you who did the whole 30 days with no lapses, I’ve turned over the names and mailing address of those we’re sending checks to our Managing Director and all around money guy David, and he’ll be getting those checks out to you in the coming weeks.

Thanks again for participating in the November playwriting challenge with Threshold Theater.

The blog and the email box will remain open, so keep us posted on your progress if you want.  We’d love to hear from you.

And spread the word and tell your friends to keep an eye out for next year’s November challenge.

Happy writing, and new year, to you all!
